KRAKOW Auschwitz & Festival Klezmer climax

RYANAIR Leaving Friday 2nd July at 6.10am Stanstead Flight 2432 cost is approx £95 lands Krakow 9.35am and returns 21.50pm on Sunday 4th July Flight 2437 lands Stanstead 23.20pm. [Based on flights as of 17/11/08 total cost of week-end is approx £290] You will be taken direct to airport following Auschwitz visit on Sunday all flights have to be booked by yourselves on www.ryanair.com

Alternatively book flights EasyJet from Luton 8.45am on Friday 2nd July that will get you to Krakow in time for full programme although you will have to extend trip to Monday 5th July leaving Krakow on EasyJet 13.00 flight.

Friday 2nd July 2010
1.45pm - Walking tour of the Jewish quarter [4 hours] from our Astoria Hotel – Visiting the Galicia museum, & 7 synagogues and cemetery. The tour incorporates the newly rebuilt Kupa, Remuh, Temple, High, Old, Popper, Isaac Synagouges and Galicia museum where we will have a half hour coffee break approx 4.30pm before electric buggy ride to Jewish Wartime ghetto, Shindlers Factory Plashov then a tour of Krakow town with main square and Wawel castle before depositing you back at the hotel by 6pm
This is also the 6th day of the 9 day Jewish heritage festival See website www.jewishfestival.pl for 20th annual festival programme of events. You can extend your stay with additional days but please confirm with me first.

7.30pm Kabalas shabbos at the Ramuh synagogue followed by various Klezmer concerts see festival programme. Let me know if you require a Kosher meal at the Hotel Eden alternatively vast choices of restaurants in the area.

Saturday 3rd July  9.00 am Shabbos service at the Remuh Shule or Temple Synagogue and from Midday you will hear sound checks preparation within square for finale SHALOM Concert climax Starting at 6.00pm in pletzl Szeroka Square 7 hours of mainly Klezmer music a treat to behold ending at 1.00am in morning consisting of the worlds best KLEZMER bands and a mix of Jewish / Yiddish / Chazanuth & Israeli music with a star attraction of Israeli Band Balkan Beat Box.

1.30pm Suggested pm afternoon walk from outside Alef bar/restaurant in Szeroka square to Main Town centre square for early supper and stocking up with food and drinks for marathon concert. This is because with 15,000 people packing into the Jewish quarter very difficult to move around all restaurants in area full and long queues for food and drink. DURING CONCERT starting at 6pm I can be found bang in the middle of Szeroka Square probably in front of cameraman with Israeli flag so you can find me and we can enjoy concert as a group.

Sunday 4th July 2010  We will leave Hotel Astoria at 8.30 am to beat local traffic by Coach for Auschwitz-Birkenau which arrives approx 9.45 am and will spend approximately 5 hours there with guide. We will end tour at 3 pm with Mincha, and a Kinnah [religious service] for the victims of the shoah & a memorial prayer for the Martyrs concluded by shofar at the end of the railway track in Birkenau. Following Auschwitz-Birkenau we will visit museum and Holocaust Centre in the nearby town of Oswiecim [see their interesting website on www.ajcf.org with reconstructed Synagogue and in their conference room we will watch a shoah holocaust related film with food snacks and drinks provided

We will return to Krakow via airport to deposit those returning on evening 21.50 flight. Options available to anyone wanting extra days either side of week-end. Arriving earlier recommended for festival events on offer.

This is a land package only – you must book your own flights – To reserve a place a deposit is payable of £75 per person - send a cheque to Jewish Heritage Tours to 24, Belmont Circle Harrow Middlesex HA3 8RF – refundable only if cancelled a full calendar month before departure. You must pay Hotel bill as soon as possible after you arrive together with your kosher food.
